How to get A Hold of Me

Our Last Free Week

This week has been one of my favorite weeks here.  After we got back from an all night trip to Venice a few weeks ago we knew that we were going to have to do another all night trip to somewhere else and with Roberto and Stefano living next to Perugia I figured we could hang out with the italian guys and have our late night at the same time.  We jumped on the train at 8:00 for the two and a half hour trip down to Perugia.  We were able to get a car all to ourselves and had a great time talking on the way down.  We met up with Stefano and Roberto at the train station and headed up to the main strip of Perugia.  Perugia is a great college town with tons of great bars and disco techs so we knew it was going to be an eventful night.   We started off going to an Red Robbin like bar and had some dinner.  It was fun to talk to Roberto and Stefano and to hear them talk in Italian with Marina.  I jumped in and said little snip-its here and there but like I've said, not a fan of speaking Italian.

After dinner we went dancing at an all Italian bar that Stefano suggested.  We had so much fun dancing together that I didn't even notice that we were the only Americans in the bar.  For some reason I wanted to take a lot of pictures of the night so I started taking pics. of anything that had a lot of people in it but toward the end of the night I just took pictures whether or not it had any of our group in it.  I ended up with around 100 funny pics of the night.

After the club closed, we started our walk down the hill to the station.  We still had three hours until the train came but we thought that we would just sleep in the station for awhile.  Ilana, Mia and I ended up falling asleep on one of the benches in the train station for a few hours and then again on the train ride home.  It was an interesting train ride because when we left Perugia the train was empty and when we woke up in Firenze the train was packed with people going to work yet we didn't even notice them getting on the train.  A few power naps over the next few days and we were back to normal and ready to finish up our architecture projects.

Our next adventure of the week was a picnic at the Bobili gardens.  Azy and Olivia got the idea after walking through the gardens and seeing other groups, so on Sat. morning we all met at Standa to get food for our picnic.  We had to sneak the food in with our bags and I was surprised of how much food we were able to fit into all of our bags.  We set up a few blankets and kicked in the half sunny day.  About an hour into our picnic it began to rain on us.  We heard thunder and thought that we were going to be in trouble with all of this food laying out, but luckily it only rained a little and soon the sun was out again.  We had a great time talking about everything fun that has happened while we've been in Firenze and the girls got everyone to have a feelings talk to talk about how they have been feeling over the last few days.  Totally a girl thing to do but it was fun to hear how everyone has been feeling over the last few weeks.

Soon after our talk, Matt broke out his hacky sack and a group began kick it around.  Talk about an amazing thing to do.  Studying in Firenze, having a picnic in the Medici's Bobili gardens and playing hacky sack on a sunny Saturday afternoon.  We are so lucky.
